When we saw the periods between the letters the first question that came to our mind was if the name was some kind of an abbreviation. However, it seems, the periods are faltu themselves!

A movie of young people who as the name suggests are F.A.L.T.U. in the eyes of the people but very crafty and innovative in their own right. They may not excel at academics but they sure know how to live a fulfilling life. If you have some faltu time, this movie might make it interesting.

The fascination to make Don movies does not seem to have ended yet. The race to remake Amitabh Bachchan’s movies has picked up for some funny reason. Shahrukh Khan plays the Don’s role in the movie once again. Is there any other producer coming up with Don 3?

When Sholay was released, there was no TV in India. People hardly read the newpapers. Obviously, there was no Internet. Still, there was hardly any adult in the cities of India then who had not seen Sholay or heard about it. What was so great or good about Sholay that it became an all time hit with almost no advertising like the producers use today to promote their work?

It is rightly said that a good work is like smell. The word about it spreads on its own. Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan performed brilliantly as if their life depended on that movie. The story line was riveting inspite of having all the Bollywood masala that the Indian audience is so much in love with.

The dialogs of Gabbar Singh(Amjad Khan) and Veeru (Dharmendra) are so popular even today. The dialog “Kitne aadmi they..” is used even in day to day life. Dharmendra’s act of jumping off from the water tower is performed even today in many comic situations. If you call someone Basanti, people know who you are referring a person as the chatty Basanti who would never stop talking. Well, it was not just the human actors, that became famous. Dhanno, the female horse of Bansanti is a very well known personality too!

The movie Sholay of course makes you laugh a lot. But just as all Bollywood movies do, at times if you do cry in the movies, you might need to carry a handkerchief with you. Sholay is a nice clean movie that you can watch and enjoy with your kids. If they do not sleep after the movie is over you can tell them “So ja nahi toh Gabbar Singh aa jaayega” and they would know what you mean!

Dhobi Ghat has raised more questions. On one hand people who could figure out the storyline of the movie, loved it and do not hesitate to call Dhobi Ghat a great success. On the other hand, there are many such audiences who come out of the theater pretty perplexed. Maybe Dhobi Ghat has been designed for a different audience target and may not be for the one that is attuned to the usual masala movies from Bollywood. However, there were other actors in Dhobi Ghat who gave excellent performances in spite of being the new comers acting opposite to the maestro himself. Also, the role of each of the actors is almost equal. It may not be an exaggeration to state that Aamir’s role might be one of the smallest of the lead roles. Therefore, should the credit of the success of Dhobi Ghat not go to the entire crew as it should be?

When we talked to a few audiences coming out of the movie theater, they believed that because Aamir was in the movie, the movie had to be good. Yes, they were confused about the story line, but the presence of Aamir Khan in the movie was enough for these people to call the movie a great one. Well, that is how the fans behave. Maybe the ones we happened to talk to were ardent Aamir Khan’s fans and for them Aamir would make all the difference.
