Sonu Nigam
The anchor of Sa Re Ga Ma on Zee TV attracted the attention of Bollywood more than the participants could. Sonu Nigam proved himself on the small screen that attracted the big wigs of Bollywood to give him a chance. And Sonu never looked behind since then.
Sonu Nigam is a versatile artist who has matured enough to be taken very seriously by those who initially doubted his capability. Being a son of stage singer, Sonu Nigam as if had music and singing in his genetics. He started singing in Bollywood at a very young age when the other singers were middle aged or more. It was only obvious that he had a tough time establishing himself but his persistence and hard work has finally paid off. Now there is hardly a movie without a number sung by Sonu!Sonu Nigam never seems to have sung a purely classical song but that does not mean he lacks the knowledge of it. The modulation of his voice is amazing. He can sing a sad number with as much ease as a patriotic number composed by A R Rahman. His voice is very smooth and youthful and can be used for playback for any hero in Bollywood today.
The die hard fans of Mohammad Rafi, do not like to compare Sonu with Rafi, but in their heart of hearts they know that Sonu’s voice quality is very close to that of Mohammad Rafi. I think, it is only Sonu who could sing the famous Rafi number “O Duniya Ke Rakhwale” just like Rafi did himself.
A R Rahman, the maestro, is known never to compromise with the quality of the music he produces. The fact that he uses Sonu Nigam so often to sing his number speaks volumes about his confidence in Sonu Nigam.
Sonu also keeps himself in the news and in the public eye by being connected with the Indian Television. After his initial role as an achor of Sa Re Ga Ma, he has often returned to the show as a judge and has proved his knowledge and expertise in that capacity also.
We wish this young man a life full of success and expect him to deliver his best to the Indian music industry.
